Part A: Skills & Strategies Math Skills
A skill is something that you know how to do very well. Mastering any task requires a specific set of skills. A farmer needs to know how much water to give the crops. A doctor needs to know how to treat various illnesses and injuries. A builder needs to know how to use different tools. They all need lots of practice to sharpen those skills.
In the same way, solving math problems involves its own set of skills.
The first step to solving any math problem is finding out what you are being asked to do. Should you add or subtract? Are you comparing shapes or counting objects? Recognizing which skill to use will help you solve math problems more easily.
This series focuses on the following groups of skills.
1. OperationsandAlgebraicThinking
